Bride Chelsea Clinton/$$$

Bill and Hillary Clinton are just another pair of boomers who have witnessed the marriage of their daughter.  OK…not just any boomers, they are incredibly famous and wealthy boomers, who have spared no expense to finally see their darling Chelsea, snag a husband.

But at a time when our economy has just about hit rock bottom, with record numbers of people losing their jobs and homes – does it seem right for a former president of our country and our current Secretary of State to throw a shindig fit for royalty?    I guess the point is how much money does one need to spend to marry off a daughter even if your last name is Clinton?  In fact, one would think the Clintons might have scaled things down a bit if just to show the public that they have some sympathy for the horrible state of our economy.

Money aside, its nice to see a young couple who have a lot in common get married.   And when I suggest “in common”, I’m talking about their respective daddies.   I doubt its necessary to reprise Bill Clinton’s 15 minutes of fame in the oval office (if it even lasted that long) in addition to his presidential duties.  We all know now who the “head” intern was during Bill’s administration.

The groom’s father, Ed Mezvinsky, sometimes known as “Fast Talkin’ Eddie”, got out of prison just two years ago after an eight year stint.  This scam artist convinced people to invest money in fraudulent schemes and was found guilty of bank fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud.  Supposedly, he still owns millions of dollars to people.  Good thing the Clintons had the cash for the major hoopla event.

I do wish Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky every happiness in the world.  They seem like two delightful young people.   And despite two families being brought together to have and to hold, in good times and bad, in sickness and health, for richer or in debt, begat by scoundrel and scammer – I wish them the very best.  Mazel Tov!
